Tazza
Nantgarw China Works (1813 - 1822)
Small tazza, possibly intended as a wafer holder, good translucency and a lustrous glaze, stained yellow at the top of the stem and on one side of rim. Standing on a stepped trumpet foot and stem, terminating in a flange, shallow waisted bowl with moulded and everted rim. Decorated with a gilt band to the foot, and with two broad gilt lines around the stem, the exterior of the dish decorated with a pattern of gilt swags, gilt line at the shoulders below a band of gilt tulip heads; the interior painted with two sprays of garden flowers within a seeded gold border edged with foliate scrolls.
