Aberafan, film negative
Aerial view of the first phase of construction of the Sandfields Estate seen from above Aberavon Beach. The houses were initially mainly single storey pre-fabs, and "Cornish Units' by Sellick and Nicholls, but later more conventional semi-detached houses were built as seen in the foreground. The estate was built on levelled sand dunes evidence of which is seen on the left of the picture. Running from the bottom left corner to the top centre is Farm Drive named after Moors Farm at the top of the picture.
