S.S. HAWKWOOD, glass negative

Built 1934 by Austin & Son Ltd., Sunderland, for W. France, Fenwick & Co Ltd, London. She was also owned for a time by H. Harrison & Co., London. On 27 January 1942, HAWKWOOD was on passage from Blyth to London, with a cargo of coal, when she broke in two after grounding on Teesmouth. The wreck was dispersed of shortly after the sinking. She was owned by Tyne & Wear Shipping Co. (managed by Wm. France, Fenwick & Co.) at the time of her demise.
