Bowl, very finely potted hard-paste porcelain, distinct foot ring rising to rounded sides and a flaring rim; the upper to mid body is hand pierced with Linglong (‘delicate openwork’) decoration of a trellis or diaper pattern, into which are integrated eight groups of Chinese characters evenly spaced around the body, the lower body has a geometric pattern of inverted, nested 'U' motifs in reserve through the white glaze, the rest of the vessel is glazed, aside from the Chinese characters and a narrow band beneath the rim, which are free of glaze.
