Baxter, Thomas (junior) (1782 - 1821)
Plant pot and stand, hybrid-paste porcelain; flared conical form with a moulded lip and ring handles moulded with the body; a hole in the base; fitting on to a separate turned stand with a spreading foot; painted with a rectangular panel, in monochrome burgundy red, of a Shakespearian scene, with two men in Elizabethan costume, one standing holding a sword, the other lying on the ground, near a tomb; a wide band of red and gilt vertical stripes around the body, and gilt greek key pattern above the foot and below the lip; gilt lip and handles; stand painted with a gilt greek key pattern, gilt foot rim and lip.
