Banner
National Patriotic Front (Wales) banner used in a rally at Machynlleth in 1968, also attended by members of the Free Wales Army. The banner is featured in a photo of the rally in Machynlleth (F2022.33.4). It was hand-made by unknown members of the NPF and includes the 'mystic mark' symbol of the group in red.
Rectangular banner, taller than it is wide, constructed from green, white, red and black tabby-woven cotton fabric: the ground is made up of white (top) and green (bottom). Both white and green fabric have selvage edges on the proper left side. Single turn-back, machine stitched hems on all four sides. Letters 'NPF' cut out in black and stitched onto white ground, and the three rays of the mystic mark are cut out in red and stitched across both white and green ground. Raw edges on both letters and rays. All machine stitched using white thread. Two red fabric hanging loops on upper corners, also with raw edges. There are some black lines on the red 'rays', indicating that a template was drawn on the fabric prior to cutting out. A brass bobby pin is attached to the proper right hanging loop.
