Nantgarw China Works (1813 - 1822)
Plate, soft-paste porcelain; standing on a straight sided foot rim curving into cushion moulded and slightly curved spreading sides; lobed lip with six large and six small lobes, moulded with c-scrolls and ribbon-tied flowers and foliage; groove moulded cavetto; painted in the centre with four doves perched on the rim of a shallow bronze urn set on a stone plinth, one of the birds drinking water; moulding detailed in gilt, enclosing sprays of three pink roses on a gilt dotted ground; gilt border to cavetto and gilt lip.
