Teacup and saucer, 'Swansea glassy' porcelain, good near white translucency, lustrous slightly pitted glaze with a slight grey tinge; cup on a tall foot ring, hemispherical body painted in enamels with a vignette at the front of a seated man in a brown coat reading or sketching in a mountainous landscape, tree to left, with roots and foliage extending below to frame the composition, ring handle, worn gilt line to handle, around the foot and to the lip; saucer on a similar foot ring, no cup-well, painted in the centre with a vignette of a woman in a yellow dress holding a sieve, a leaping spaniel behind, a cottage in the middle ground, and mountains beyond, tree to right, with roots and foliage extending below the composition, very worn gilt line to the rim.
