Figure group of Sir Walter Scott and his hound Maida, white earthenware with a blue tinted crackle glaze, standing on an irregular oval plinth inscribed in gilt script. Figure dressed in black shoes, pink trousers, underglaze blue coat with lapels outlined in gilt, over a white shirt, brown necktie, and with red white and green striped plaid with a pale blue fringe wrapped from right to left across the body, naturalistically painted face, grey hair. Active pose, right arm bent by body, holding closed yellow book with gilt edged pages, left arm folded across body with left hand partly concealed by plaid, middle sized orange dog with a white chest, seated on right hand side, white brick wall behind.
