Newspaper

Newspaper ‘Class War. Murdoch you are Scum’, issue 17, undated (possibly March 1986). This edition has articles on the ‘Silent Night’ bedding company strike, anti-fascism, Liverpool City Council (‘Militant’) and the Wapping dispute.

Class War was an anarchist group and newspaper established by Ian Bone and others in 1983. In the 1980s Class War organised two ’Bash the Rich’ demonstrations through Henley on Thames and Kensington bearing placards and banners reading ‘Behold your future executioners’. A third demonstration in 1985 was stopped by a heavy police presence. This event was seen as a setback and many members left the group. The group was revived in 2010 and became a political party which put seven candidates forward in 2015. The party was deregistered in July 2015.
