Mug, grey stoneware, standing on a spreading foot, integral to the body with rounded foot rim; globular body rising from the tapered foot, cordoned at junction of neck and body; cylindrical, slightly waisted neck, rounded lip rim; loop handle with raised v-shaped ridge at lower terminal; the whole covered in a rich dark brown wash with a heavy salt-glaze giving a distinctive mottled appearance, the glaze pooled near the handle and yellowy-green in colour; applied to the body with a medallion, in the centre an asymmetrical foliate deviceamidst scattered sprigging, surrounded by a circle of raised dots within an outer raised circle, the base with a clear yellowish glaze.
