Wet drug jar, pinkish buff earthenware body, vase form, standing on a flat trumpet foot, short straight spout looped back to the neck, bifurcated C-scroll handle with scroll terminals; covered with a dark blue-grey maiolica glaze, fritting away at the foot, a scroll cartouche in blue below the spout inscribed SYO, VIOLATO (syrup of violets), date 1584 above, cherubs head with yellow wings below
