Eisteddfod medal
Silver and enamel medal of National Eisteddfod, Aberdare 1861. Won by David Watkin Jones, 'Dafydd Morgannwg' (1832-1905).
Maltese style cross with a fleur-de-lys in each space. Has a decorated circular hanging loop.
Obverse - the centre has been inset with a brass, circular 'badge' which has an enamelled border with the inscription running around it. The centre of the 'badge' is lower and bears a painted depiction of the fleur-de-lys, including motto on a banner below it, on a red background.
Reverse - incised inscription on the central raised area. Hallmark on the lower arm of the cross.
