Welsh costume apron

Apron, made from tabby woven wool; white check on black ground; made from 2 full widths of woven fabric: selvages along side edges and along centre front seam (full width of woven fabric = 50cm); top edge gathered into waistband of same material (2 rows of running stitches used for gathering fabrics visible below waistband). width of waistband = c. 2.5cm. 3cm wide green-brown ties of woollen herringbone twill tape hand-stitched to either side of waistband (faded from black?).
