Small cream jug, earthenware, standing on a lobed and spreading rounded oblong foot, broadly panelled oblong poch form body, tapering at shoulder above bulbous waist, lobed lip rim with wide raised spout; high loop scroll handle with prominent thumb spur; transfer-printed in dark blue with the 'Amherst Japan' pattern; a pagoda-style building with Imari-style flowers in blue outline with foliage infilled with dark-blue to either side, similar flowers and foliage scrolling beneath rim of spout and to interior of spout and to handle.
