Dillwyn & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1811 - 1817 and 1824 - 1850)
Plate, earthenware, circular shape with slightly inset base, curving sides and spreading rim, eight shallow notches and lobes to the rim; transfer-printed in blue with the 'Ne Plus Ultra' pattern, in the centre a female figure seated on a bench, holding a lyre, surrounded by scrolled rococo style flowers and foliage and with a vista of a sailing ship on an expanse of water in front of three mountain peaks, the rim printed in blue with female figures with baskets of flowers seated in front of a lake and mountain background, interspersed with scrolling foliage and floral motifs issuing from a looping, scrolled border with a border of groups of three dots on a blue ground to the outer rim.
