M.V. CAPE HORN, glass negative

M.V. CAPE HORN (5643gt). Built 1929 by Lithgows at Port Glasgow, with engines by J.G. Kincaid for the Cape York Motorship Co, owned by Lyle Shipping Co. Ltd. The ship survived damage caused by an attack by enemy aircraft in the Mediterranean on the 14 May 1941, and six crew were lost, but she was able to sail on to Port Said. She blew up and sank in the South Atlantic on 28 March 1942 when her cargo of ammunition ignited.
