Black and white photograph showing the "chance" flotation process at a coal cleaning plant.
This photograph shows the top of the cone in which the separation of coal and shale takes place. It shows the perforated plates by means of which the sand and water that flows out with the coal are removed, in order that they may be returned to the cone.
