Petticoat
White cotton petticoat made from 7 main pieces. The top section is plain with darts at the front and back. The waistline is made as a channel with a cotton tape inside. There is an opening at the centre back with 2 buttons to fasten but 1 is missing. There is also a handwritten name ‘J M Hollings’ and a laundry mark on the facing. The lower section is a flounce made in the same fabric as the top section; it has 3 wide pleats and a white work embroidered hem featuring spots and bunches of grapes. The flounce is gathered into the upper section and finished with a white cotton cutwork ribbon. There is another layer attached to the underside of the flounce for volume.
