Letter from Edwin Hollis (Aylesbury) to Dr Cyril Fox re. a sled ("stone-boat") used in Saskatchewan at the beginning of the century by "... the settlers for either moving large stones to edges of fields, or more often to clear out the sheds in which cattle are sheltered in winter. These sheds were very low & the stone-boat could be drawn inside, and could also be drawn on to the top of the dump for emptying, which were both impossible for a wheeled cart. Also the indians when moving camp tied two teepee poles alongside a horse and piled their tent & other belongings in the lower end and allowed them to drag on the ground. They spoke of this as travoy or travoi ..." [1931]
