Cooking-pot crane
Two movement cooking-pot crane made by Mr Price at Bethel Smithy, near Llanfyllin, early 1900s.
The horizontal bar has been decorated with a crane neck and bill. Ornamentally turned brace consisting of crossed bars forming three decorative squares. The cooking pot crane was used in Brynteg farmhouse, Penygarnedd. These were common in Wales from the 1600s until the 1950s. They allowed pots to be moved closer or further away from the fire.
