Memorial plaque
Bronze memorial plaque, often known as the 'Dead Man's Penny'. Relief of Britannia holding a laurel wreath, surrounded by the inscription: 'HE DIED FOR FREEDOM AND HONOUR ALFRED PROSSER WORKMAN'. Sent to the next of kin of Private Alfred Prosser Workman who is commemorated on the Newbridge War Memorial. Alfred served with the 11th Battalion South Wales Borderers. He died on 6 September 1916 and is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery.
