Royal Humane Society Medal
Awarded to William Beith, Mechanical Engineer at Harris's Navigation Colliery, Quaker's Yard, for his part in the final phase of a rescue operation at the Tynewydd Colliery, Rhondda, 11 April 1877. The pit had been flooded by water trapping 14 men.
