Post-Medieval pottery fabric sample
A fairly hard to hard fabric with a rough feel. In the core it has a streaky appearance alternating from cream to reddy/orange (10R 5/8 - 10R 3/3). In the break abundant white clay, moderate fine quartz and sparse Ironstone can be seen under magnification. Surfaces are glazed in a burgundy red colour (2.5YR 2.5/2.4), although this appears patchy. Wheel-thrown.
