Prehistoric antler handle
Heavy duty handle made from an atler beam - at the implement end a clear chop mark is visible and stained green. The but of the handle is missing a large section. The entrie surface is smoothed from use and lumpier areas of the antler have been cut away to create a smoother surface. At the implement end a thin rectangular section of trabecular antler has been hollowed out, presumably for the insertion of a wide tang.
