Iron Age pottery jar
Rim sherd 6.5-10mm thick of quite hard fabric containing common small calcite inclusions. The external surface isblack and highly burnished, internal surface is dark grey,black but slightly vesicular where inclusions have leached away. The rim is everted and slightly flattened. It is similar to Late Iron age jars recovered from other sites in South Wales such as Llanmelin and Sudbrook hillforts. (Nash-Williams 1933, 1935)
