Bronze Age wooden boat plank (replica)
Replica of plank 3436. Based on original timbers discovered on the foreshore at Goldcliff, Newport following a storm in August 1992. The timbers were re-used as part of a Bronze Age wooden structure (Structure 1124), a possible trackway section across a small palaeochannel. The boat timbers were shown, through dendrochronology dating, to have been felled after 1017 BC. A radiocarbon date of an adjacent timber of 2720 +/- 70 BP confirmed their Late Bronze Age date.
