S.S. GRETAVALE, glass negative

S.S. GRETAVALE (4586 gt). Built 1928 by Lithgows Ltd at Port Glasgow, and owned by Andrew Crawford & Co Ltd, Glasgow. On 3 November 1941 she was sunk by U-202 north east of Notre Dame Bay, Newfoundland, while with convoy SC-52 en route to Sydney with a cargo of steel and lorries. 38 died (including the master Frank Passmore) and the 6 survivors were landed at St. Johns.
