Nantgarw China Works (1813 - 1822)
Plate, soft-paste porcelain with a slightly orange, buff translucency; standing on a tapered foot rim curving into slightly curved spreading sides; lobed rim moulded with c-scrolls and ribbon-tied flowers and foliage; painted in the centre in polychrome enamels with a rustic scene - a woman and man seated beneath a tree, with a small child clinging to the woman's skirt, and before them stands a man with a scythe over his shoulder; dark underglaze blue border with the moulding high-lighted in gilt; cavetto with gilt border of continuous c-scrolls enclosing cross-hatched areas, between stylised leaves.
