Iron Age / Roman glass bead
A necklace of thirty graduated, blue, glass globular beads, most with a slightly off centre perforation. These would be categorised as Group 7 (iv) by Guido (1978), small globular beads with origins in the 2nd century BC but lasting through the Roman period. Similar beads have been found at the Romano-British site of Biglis (Parkhouse 1988), Twyn y Gaer (Acc. 90.109H) and New Mill Farm, Monknash (Acc.91.23H/1) although these are all distinctly flattened on both sides and therefore fit into Guidos Group 6 annular bead category.
