Nantgarw China Works (1813 - 1822)
Plate, soft-paste porcelain, clear white translucency, minor pin-pricks to the body, lustrous glaze with a slight grey tinge; standing on a shallow foot rim, plain rim, lip moulded with six alternating large and small lobes; painted in the centre in a 'dry' enamel style and muted colours with shipping in a calm, comprising a large ship, bows on and sails aback, a cutter and a lighthouse to left, further vessels and a coastline in the background, ringed with a thin black line, gilt band to the cavetto, continuous bright green ground, gilt line to lip.
