Vase
Vase, pearlware, baluster form with rounded spreading foot-rim, bulbous body sloping inwards at the shoulder before flaring out to a spreading mouth; the exterior body covered with copper lustre apart from two reserved oblong panels to either side of the body which have been left white and transfer-printed in pink with a scene showing a seated female figure on a cliff-top with an anchor to one side of her and a sailing ship on the sea beyond, to the bottom of the scene is the inscription "HOPE", the scene overpainted in red, blue and green enamels, the foot-rim and exterior lip-rim left white, a pink lustre band around the interior lip-rim. The lip-rim cracked and repaired.
