Bottle
Bottle, reddish-buff coloured earthenware, modelled in the form of a book with bands around the spine and across the front, a short neck to the top; covered all over with a white tin-glaze which to the top, bottom, front and neck has been speckled with spots of orange, blue and manganese purple, decorated in shades of blue, orange, brown and green with to one side of the book a scene in a lobed panel representing the Annunciation with the Archangel Gabriel approaching the Virgin Mary at a window, to the other side of the book a landscape in a lobed panel with a male figure playing a lute and a sitting lion, to the top and bottom of both panels are spreading leaves and flowers, the spine of the book painted brown with orange bands, the sides of the book edged in orange. The sides and neck of the bottle chipped.
