S.S. EFTYCHIA, negative

Built 1943 as RIVERTON (3) by Burntisland Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. Triple-expansion engine by Rowan, Glasgow, for Carlton SS Co Ltd (R. Chapman & Son), Newcastle. On the 23rd April 1945, she was torpedoed southwest of St. Ives by submarine U-1023 with the loss of three of the 48 crew.The vessel was towed, (minus her stern) to St. Ives, then later, on to Palmers Dry Dock, Swansea for repairs. 1960 – Sold to D. Margaronis , Greece, and renamed EFTYCHIA. 1965 – Sold to Cia.Nav. Pearl, Panama, and renamed BOAZ. She was broken up at Kaohsiung, Taiwan in March 1969.
