Welsh costume apron
Apron, made from white and black check soft cotton fabric that has appearance of wool; lower edge is trimmed with white, floral, machine-made, synthetic lace ruff which has 7 tucks at regular intervals; apron is gathered into 4cm wide waistband with 4 pleats; waistband only extends to edges of lace: the apron is fastened with 1cm wide black synthetic tabby-woven ribbon (same as used for trim on petticoat); ends of ribbon have been heat sealed to prevent fraying.
Check pattern is made from alternating sets of 3 white and 3 black yarns in both weave directions; the yarns are singles yarns, Z-spun.
