Plate, soft-paste porcelain, circular shape with rounded tapering foot-rim, curving sides and spreading rim with scalloped edge; the plate has a deep blue ground with the well in reserve and painted with a Kakiemon-style ho-ho bird perched on a tree stump from which issue spreading flowering branches and a small insect above ('Sir Joshua Reynolds' pattern) in yellow, blue turquoise and red enamels, this is bordered by a gilt scalloped edge with gilt foliate sprays around the sides of the well, gilt c-scrolls to the outer rim, a gilt edge to the rim.
