¾ Starboard bow view of S.S. FORT RICHELIEU.
North Sands type built 1943 by Marine Industries Ltd., Sorel (engine by Dominion Engineering Works, Montreal), for the Canadian Government, managed for MoWT by Evan Thomas, Radcliffe & Co., Cardiff. 1946 – Transferred to Ministry of Transport, managed by Dalhousie Steam & Motor Ship Co. 1950 – Sold to Halifax Overseas Freighters Ltd., London, and renamed BEECH HILL, managed by Counties Ship Management Co., London. 1964 – Sold to Marvaliente Cia Nav., Piraeus, and renamed ALKON. 1966 – Transferred to Alkon Shipping Co., Famagusta. She was broken up in China in 1967.
