Taff Vale Railway, photograph
Taff Vale Railway signals. Looking north east from the north end of the west platform of Lavernock Station, showing the signal post for two somersault signals: the up main starter for Lavernock Signal Box (located towards the south west end of the station), and the up distant semaphore for Penarth Cement Works Signal Box (located a third of a mile to the north east) in advance. Immediately behind the signal post are the brick parapet walls of Station Road (later Fort Road) underbridge (no.43 on this branch). The sign reads “Notice. Passengers must cross the line by means of the bridge”.
