Dillwyn & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1811 - 1817 and 1824 - 1850)
Jug, pale creamy earthenware with a crazed pearl-glaze; oviform body, slight moulded base, shallow neck with curved projecting spout, curved angular handle; printed in overglaze black with a bust portrait in profile to left of a man, who wears a dark coat, striped waistcoat and high cravat, titled JOHN JONES. YESTRAD on a drapery swag below, and enclosed in an oval frame of silver lustre; on the other side the verse - May the independence of CARMARTHEN never want a Supporter Nor the wings of Liberty ever loose a feather in a similar frame, a conventional ten-rayed sun below the spout, and lines to the rim, neck, shoulders and base, all in silver lustre.
