Snuffers and tray

Croze, Charles François

Snuffers and tray, silver. The shaped oblong tray standing on four cast paw feet, two rests on its upper face to support the snuffers, the handle in the middle of one long side broken off and missing; the rim decorated with a moulded band of ovolos, leaves and lozenges, the cast snuffer rests in the form of scrolling foliage, the upper surface engraved with a coat of arms featuring a ship in sail. The snuffers of scissor form with round-topped box mounted on one half, a corresponding plate on the other, a pointed square baluster-form finial with canted corners, plain ring handles on scrolls; the handles decorated with cast husk pendent motifs, the side of the box engraved with a coat of arms to match the tray.
