Bench No.1 75" x 11.5" x 5.75" with strip at back 61" x 9" x 2.75 attached. [Accession file description]
Bench/work table made from scrap wood, including a railway sleeper that forms the front of the bench, nailed together. Legs can only be found for one end of the bench the other end was probably fixed to the end of bench No. 2 (F69.200.36]. The back of the work top was formed by F69.200.37, the plank (pt 4) that fixes behind the railway sleeper forms the central board of the work top. The plank (1560mm long, 220mm wide and 70mmm thick) has a 410mm long batten nailed across one end that was nailed to the underside of F69.200.37. At the other end of the plank there is a 77mm thick piece of wood nailed to the underside making it the same thickness as the railway sleeper at this end. [RP; 01/12/2008]
