Sugar box with cover, hard-paste porcelain, oval, standing on a foot rim, squat, bulging sides, stepped neck, domed cover; decorated in polychrome enamels, the sides with insects interspersed with fruit (a pear on one side) and two flowers, cover decorated with a bird with a yellow back and red front perching on a branch, lemon to left, insect above, gilding to foot rim, shoulders and rim of cover, ornamental gilt border to shoulders and around rim of cover.
