Roman copper alloy Trumpet brooch
The head and neck are decorated with two grooves, and the sides of the central rib are ornamented with a zig-zag line. The waist-knob is notched, with a narrow cross-moulding on either side. On the catchplate, just below the bow, are traces of further zig-zag ornament. The pin, spring and loose wire head-loop are inserted into the rolled, sheet bronze tube which forms the axial bar.
