Costrel
Costrel, red earthenware, standing on a high foot spreading at the base to a rounded foot-rim, the foot extensively restored, possibly the whole foot a later reconstruction, oviform body rising to an elongated funnel-shaped neck with a thickly rounded lip-rim, four horizontal handles to the main body positioned in pairs to either side of the main body, the handles roughly moulded in the shape of masks, possibly masks of lions; the foot painted with a black glaze, the main body covered with a brown glaze over which white slip has been trailed in order to create a marbled effect.
