Medieval copper alloy strap/belt mount

This would appear to be a cast belt mount or strap end of triangular form with two opposing lugs on the sides near the top, and a more substantial lozenge-shaped projection on the base. The mount has a central triangular opening. The surface decoration has eroded but seems to have been a hatched design in low relief, contained within a border. There are organic remnants surviving on the reverse of the mount, consisting of a coarse wool weave over a leather backing. The wool is observable through the central opening. The mount was attached through both layers by two loops on the reverse of the mount, one placed near the side lugs and the other at the base, and was presumably sewn on. The mount appears to have been silvered ot tinned. The apex of the piee is bent back, probably as a result of more recent damage. The lozenge-shaped projection at the base has become detached and glued on by the finder.
