Plate, soft-paste 'trident' porcelain, with a redish earthy translucency, and thick glaze with many tiny bubbles; standing on a foot rim curving into flared spreading sides; centre with traces of having been transfer printed in black enamel with a scene of a ruined abbey - Kirkham Priory - with two women in the foreground; black enamel band to the lip and an inner grey line.
