Cast iron column, 1800, mounted on plinth
Cast iron pillar used in the building of an extension to the Taibach (little houses) copper works, Port Talbot. The date 1800 has been cast into the column and 'N. ABBEY' indicates that it was made at the Neath Abbey ironworks operated at the time by the Quaker families, Fox and Price, of Cornish origin.
