Prehistoric human remains

Complete adult cranium, possibly female, with slight copper alloy staining in the middle part of the frontal bone. There is further copper alloy staining around the outer edge of the left eye socket and some corroded copper alloy survives within the socket! The right zygomatic bone is broken and protrudes into the maxillary sinus. All upper teeth were lost prior to death, all but one have have healed over completely.

Site Name: Merthyr Mawr, Bridgend

Notes: Possibly from Merthyr Mawr. There is no information accompanying the majority of the bones but the general state of preseration and colouring of the bones is consistent with other remains recovered from sandy contexts.
