Roman shale bowl
Shale bowl found in a stone coffin with the skeleton of a Roman man.
The bowl and a glass perfume or ointment bottle were the remains of grave goods that he would need to smooth his journey into the afterlife. The grave was found in a cemetary outside Caerleon Roman fortress and dates to about 200 AD.
