Two daughters stand beside Mrs Alford and her son stands behind her alight suit, his head hidden by a sign calling a Government Orval E. Faubus to "save our Christian America".
The photograph is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the librarian of the Baltimore Sun Archives Paul M McCardell.
